Abstract

A coke quenching car (Figure 7) includes a longitudinally extending frame 13 mounted on wheels 15 running on rails. A cylindrical hopper 23 is axially rotatably mounted on the frame and is provided with quenching means 93 and effluent extraction means 73, portions of which project into the interior of the hopper, and portions of which are mounted on the frame. The apertured top 85 Figure 5 of the hopper is covered by an apertured sliding cover plate 53 permitting charging of the hopper with coke and discharge thereof through pivotable discharge doors 75, 89 in the top of the hopper and in the cover plate. <IMAGE>
