Abstract

A mineral cutting tool for mining, quarrying or civil engineering (e.g. rock-cutting) is provided with a device for retaining the tool in a holder. The device comprises a metal spring having a projection for reception in a recess 10 the tool and a lug 20 for engagement with the tool holder. The metal spring may be of spring steel and of circular or other cross section or formed from a flat strip. The tool may be provided with a recess 12 into which the spring may be deflected as the tool is entered into the holder. The device may comprise spring elements as shown disposed on opposite sides of the tool, the elements being connected by a joining lobe passing over the base of the tool. <IMAGE>
