Abstract
A reinforcing structure (200,300,400,500,600,703,900,1000) comprising a first set of bundles (201,301,402,901,1001) and a second set of bundles (202,302,403,902,1002) is described herein. Each of the first set of bundles are arranged substantially parallel to other bundles of the first set, and the second set of bundles are arranged substantially perpendicular to the first set of bundles. The first set of bundles and the second set of bundles are arranged in a grid (203,303,401,501,601) defining holes (204,304,1003) which have widths (205,305) and lengths (206,306) greater than 4mm with the first set of bundles and the second set of bundles being maintained in the grid by a connection means (207,307,407,903). Each of the bundles comprise a plurality of strands (212,905) of material derived from bamboo and each bundle is provided with a coating (211,906) to provide physical and chemical protection to the strands.
