Abstract

A method of manufacturing a fabric element 60 comprises applying a layer of an uncured silicone elastomer onto a surface of a first elastic fabric 12 and curing the layer to form an elastic cushioning layer 14, wherein the elasticity of the cured layer is determined by the viscosity of the uncured elastomer. The uncured layer is preferably applied onto the surface of a part of the first fabric arranged inside a cavity (figure 2b). The method may further comprise folding a portion of a second fabric 42 and sandwiching the first fabric between the folded portions. An edge of a third fabric 52 may be arranged on top of the elastic cushioning layer and sandwiched between folded portions of the second fabric. Also disclosed is a fabric element (10, figure 1) comprising an elastic fabric (12) and an elastic cushioning layer (14) in the form of a cured layer of silicone elastomer. The element may be used as a bra strap or to form a trim along the edge of a garment.
