Abstract
A method of operating a touch sensitive display that has an input array of electrodes capacitively coupled to an output array of electrodes. The method involves performing a scan operation at every intersection point of the input array and output array so as to obtain a touch value for every intersection point. The touch value is indicative as to whether there is a touch event at the intersection point. The intersection points are arranged into subsets (e.g. rows and columns). The touch value is compared to a predetermined threshold and only those subsets which include at least one intersection point that has a touch value exceeding the first threshold are processed. A comparison of the processing effort required to perform the processing step for respective subsets (e.g. rows columns may be made before selecting the subsets to process. A number of rows or columns can be eliminated from being processed thus reducing the overall processing burden.
