Abstract
The present invention provides a method for capturing and storing an acidic gas (e.g. C02) from a gas comprising: (i) contacting said gas with brine to produce an acidic gas-rich brine and an acidic gas-depleted gas; and (ii) pumping said acidic gas-rich brine into a subterranean formation for storage, wherein at least some of said brine used in step (i) derives from the subterranean formation into which said acidic-gas rich brine is pumped in step (ii).
