Abstract

A tray 1 has base 3, side walls and a plate 7 with openings 7. Plate 7 can be raised so that the apertures receive items and secure their horizontal location while base 3 supports their weight; or lowered so that multiple trays 1 can nest. In each position the plate is parallel to the base; when raised it is supported by latches 50 which retract away from the plate allowing it to lower. Ideally the latch is a tongue 51 integrally formed on the side walls. It is preferably biased 53 towards the latched position where a seat 54 engages the edge of the plate with a tab 55 for release. The plate can include tongues 72 adjacent the openings to better secure items. Ideally as a further tray is placed on top of the first tray it actuates the latch to lower the plate.
