Abstract

A syringe for dispensing a paste is made of plastics material and comprising a hollow body with externally projecting finger rests 41, a rotatable finger-nut 18 held captive in an end of the hollow body by a retaining assembly 22, a screw-threaded piston rod 12 screw-threadedly engaged with the nut 18 but prevented from rotating relative to the hollow body of the syringe, a soil piston 12' on the end of the rod inside a barrel 20 forming part of the hollow body, and an outlet nozzle at the end of barrel 20. The retaining assembly 22 has a wall 37 with abutment surfaces 26 for preventing rotation of the rod 12 and has a radially inwardly projecting flange 34 which engages the peripheral groove 24 in the nut 18. This assembly 22 is formed in two semi-circular parts 45 and 46 with pin 48 and socket 47 engagement, and presents axially disposed locating grooves 52 to engage axial locating splines 51 in the hollow body, and an external peripheral ridge 54 to snap-fit into an internal circumferential groove 55 in the hollow body. <IMAGE>
