Abstract

Components (e.g. luma, chroma) of an image are processed, the image being composed of at least a first and a second, different, type of component. Samples of the second type are predictable (406) from samples of the first type (401, 402, 403) using a prediction model linking the first and second types. The link is represented in the model by at least one model parameter. The value of an intermediate model parameter (404) used to obtain the prediction model parameter, or the value of the model parameter itself, is adjusted (e.g. according to a correction parameter), and samples of the second type are predicted from filtered or non-filtered samples of the first type using the model and model parameter(s) (405) based on the adjusted intermediate model parameter value or the adjusted model parameter. Also disclosed is filtering the samples of the first type using a filter (i) having integer only coefficients and/or (ii) avoiding using left shift operations and/or (iii) avoiding using right shift operations. Samples are predicted of the second type from the filtered samples of the first type using the prediction model.
