Abstract

A method of operating a navigation apparatus is provided, wherein a map display of the navigation apparatus includes a representation of a current position together with a representation of the remainder of a determined route. A maximum map scale is determined such that a representation of the entire remainder of the route is shown within a visible map display area during travel along the route.
