Abstract

A method for distributing status information on behalf of a subscriber in a telecommunications network is described. The method may be used for distributing personal status information. The method comprises receiving in the telecommunications network a text message sent by a message originator and addressed to the subscriber, determining that the text message conforms to a predefined criterion indicating the text message is a request by the message originator to be informed of a subsequent change in status information for the subscriber receiving updated-status information for the subscriber after having received the request by the message originator to be informed of a subsequent change in status information for the subscriber; and sending a status-information
