Abstract

A method is provided for avoiding in-device interference. The method may include determining a portion of a frequency band used for data reception by a first wireless modem that may be affected by interference from a data transmission by a second wireless modem and causing an indication of the determined portion of the frequency band to be provided to the first wireless modem. Preferably the first wireless modem is a Bluetooth (RTM) or WLAN transceiver and uses an unlicensed band such as the ISM band. The second wireless modem is preferably a cellular modem. In one embodiment the unlicensed band modem may indicate to the cellular modem a â future reception windowâ , i.e. a time period during which it expects to receive a signal. Preferably, the cellular window adjusts the quality of its data transmissions to accommodate this window, e.g. by reducing transmission power.
