Abstract

Apparatus comprising a portable device that incorporates processing means that can be used to obtain information pertaining to the inspection of an asset or assets at a point local to the asset or assets and characterized in that the inspection information may be loaded into the portable device at the point of inspection. The invention relates generally to the maintenance of assets, whether they are machines, plant equipment in general, rooms, buildings, fixtures and fittings and so on. In particular it relates to the ability to determine automatically at the location of the assets what inspections should be carried out in order to determine and report the condition of the assets, for example to enable a condition based maintenance programme to be conducted efficiently.
