Abstract

Apparatus for continuously laying yarn or a like filamentary material in a spatially compacted form, comprising a substantially vertically disposed tube (1), the top of which is provided with an inlet aperture (2) and the bottom of which is provided with a sloping delivery aperture (7), into which said tube the yarn (3) can be introduced from above, and a conveyor belt (11, 12) disposed beneath the tube (1) and extending away therefrom and on which said conveyor belt the yarn, which accumulates in helical configuration in the tube (1), is delivered from the sloping delivery aperture in adjacently disposed loops (13). The material is treated e.g. steamed on the belt (which may be perforated) and is withdrawn from the delivery end of the belt, e.g. for rewinding. <IMAGE>
