Abstract

The invention relates to azo dyes of the general formula:- <IMAGE> where D is the radical of an aromatic diazo component or of a diazo component of the thiadiazole, triazole or pyrazole series, R<1> is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, chlorine, bromine, methoxy or ethoxy, R<2> is hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, methyl, ethyl, methoxy, ethoxy, C1-C4-alkylsulfonylamino, C1-C5 alkanoylamino, C1-C4- alkoxycarbonylamino, phenylsulfonylamino or benzoylamino, A<1> is C1-C4-alkyl, C3-C5-alkenyl, C3-C5-alkynyl, cyclohexyl or a radical of the formula <IMAGE> A<2> is C2-C6-alkylene which may or may not be interrupted by oxygen, A<3> is C2-C4-alkylene, A<4> is C1-C4-alkyl and n is 1, 2 or 3. The dyes of the invention are useful for dyeing and printing synthetic and cellulosic fibers, especially polyesters, to give dyeings and prints which have good light fastness, wet fastness and good fastness to thermofixing.
