Abstract

A diaphragm made of rubber or rubber-like plastics materials with or without one or more reinforcing plies has a side wall (3) including two sections (A, B) of different included angle between a clamping bead (2) and a base (4) against which a rigid disc (7) is retained by a bead (14). Section (A) is typically longer than section (B) and has an included angle of 30 DEG whereas section (B) has an included angle of 20 DEG and is progressively increasing thickness. The object of this configuration is to provide uniform stress distribution. <IMAGE>
