Abstract
The speaker system comprises a crossover arrangement 20 for receiving an input audio signal, and dividing the received input audio signal into a high frequency component signal SH and a low frequency component signal SL. A high frequency speaker 22 is connected to the crossover arrangement for receiving the high frequency component signal and multiple low frequency speakers 24 are each connected to the crossover arrangement for receiving the low frequency component. In use the low frequency loudspeakers 24 are arranged to surround the high frequency loudspeaker 22 (figs 7-15). Cone break-up is reduced, and the required sound volume can be achieved within a small space. The speaker system is particularly suitable for use in an earphone or headphone arrangement (figs 16-18).
