Abstract

In an apparatus for feeding articles along a path to a series of stations where operations are performed upon the articles, there is disclosed a conventional non-stretch belt 10, preferably of stainless steel, passing over drums having sprockets and the belt having sprocket holes along at least one margin. In order to prevent damage to the articles being transferred which sometimes do not fit cleanly into apertures 11 provided for holding them, the apertures according to the present invention are provided with grommets 13 which may be molded or machined of rubber or other material which will not scuff or scratch the articles being transported. The belt passes over a vacuum box 25 which is intended to hold the articles being transported in position and the grommets assist in improving the vacuum seal. <IMAGE>
