Abstract

A self-clamping rod fitting pivot assembly for the adjustable relative axial and/or angular positioning of one or more elements (2) in relation to one or more rods (4) rigid with one of the elements, which comprises for each rod (4) a resilient sleeve (1) having an axial bore lined with a thin bush (3) of plastics material having a low coefficient of friction, this bush (2) being adapted to accommodate the end portion of the rod (4), the resilient sleeve (1) being fitted in the other element (2) and subjected in the assembled position to a predetermined clamping force permitting both stable holding and ready adjustment of the position of the two elements in relation to each other, this fitting assembly being particularly but not exclusively applicable to sun visors and head rests of automobiles. <IMAGE>
