Abstract

A process for the oxidation of ammonia in accordance with the invention comprises passing a gaseous mixture containing ammonia and either air or oxygen at elevated temperature through particles of catalyst, said mixture being passed at a flowrate such that said particles constitute a fluidised bed. Preferred catalysts comprise one or more platinum metals.
