Abstract

A device for drawing a free thread end from a wound thread member has a suction nozzle (1) opening at a slot. A smooth contact roller (2) is arranged toward the outside of the slot for contacting the surface of a rotatable wound thread member. A clamping roller (3) is rotated by contact with the contact roller and is spaced back from the wound thread member. The clamping roller has a circumferentially interrupted surface which, in cooperation with the contact roller, provides intermittent thread clamping points. <IMAGE>
