Abstract
A reference voltage source comprises a bridge circuit having two avalanche (zener) diodes 1 and 2 connected in its opposite arms and two resistors 3 and 4 connected in the other arms, two operational amplifiers 5 and 6, an a.c.- d.c. voltage converter 17 having an input connected to an output terminal 16 of the source, a d.c. reference voltage setting circuit 18 and a comparator 19 having inputs connected to the converter 17 and to the setting circuit 18. The comparator 19 has an output connected to a non-inverting input 10 (or 21) of the operational amplifiers 5 (or 6). The output of the operational amplifiers 5 and 6 are connected alternately to the output terminal 16 while the inverting inputs are each connected to a respective electrode of a respective one of the avalanche diodes 1 and 2. The reference source provides an amplitude regulated ac square wave, or by using a circuit 60 with a time varying voltage gain, an approximate sinusoid. <IMAGE>
