Abstract

An image chamber of producing electron-radiographic images comprises two main electrodes 10, 12 serving as anode and cathode, lying in different notional concentric spherical surfaces with an X-ray source at the common centre, means for locating a dielectric sheet 15 between the main electrodes 10, 12 and adjacent to one of them (12) with one edge portion of the sheet 15 curved round an edge of the adjacent main electrode 12, sealing means 23 for maintaining gas in the chamber at superatmospheric pressure, and at least one further electrode 52 (or 60 to 64, or 75 Figs. 2 and 3) extending parallel to the said edge of the main electrode, the further electrode or electrodes having one or more external potentials applied thereto. Further electrode (75) is a semiconductive layer having a potential difference applied between its edges. <IMAGE>
