Abstract
A pressure sensor 2 comprising a piezoelectric ceramic device 10 which is pressure and temperature sensitive and which is adapted to convert pressure variations into electrical signals; an amplifier 14 for amplifying the electrical signals; and a polymeric material 12, e.g. a dimethyl siloxane polymer, which has a sufficiently low attentuation to pressure waves, a sufficiently low thermal conductivity, and a sufficiently high specific heat that it substantially thermally isolates the piezoelectric ceramic device 10 without substantially impeding the pressure sensitivity of the piezoelectric ceramic device 10. <IMAGE>
