Abstract
Phenol sulfam(na)phthaleins substituted on the N atom of the sulfam(na)phthalein ring have the formula <IMAGE> wherein A' is a 4-hydroxy-1-phenyl or 4- hydroxy-1-naphthyl moiety and B is a phenyl or naphthyl moiety, A and B not being both naphthyl moieties, X' completes a 2,3-dihydrobenz [d] isothiazole-1,1-dioxide or 2,3- dihydronaphtho [1,8 de]-1,2-thiazine- 1,1-dioxide ring and Z is a group linked via a -CO- radical. The compounds are useful as photographic optical filter agents and filter agent precursors.
