Abstract
A radio antenna comprises conducting plates arranged to form a pair of coaxial annular slot aerials dimensioned to resonate respectively in a radial mode and a circumferential mode, both at the same frequency. The antenna may comprise a first flat plate (4) having a circular outer edge and supported adjacent to a ground conductor (1) to define a first annular slot between the outer edge of the first plate and the ground conductor for the radial mode, and a second flat plate (7) having a circular outer edge of smaller diameter than the outer edge of the first plate and supported adjacent to the first plate to define a second annular slot between the outer edge of the second plate and the first plate for the circumferential mode. There may be provided in-phase connection means connected to a plurality of circumferentially spaced connection points (9, 10) on the first plate (4), and in-quadrature connection means connected to quadrature connection points (13, 14) on the second plate (7). <IMAGE>
