Abstract

A recording magnetic tape is disclosed having a sound track and a portion in which pictorial data is placed for viewing. The sound track and the pictorial data may be on the same or opposite sides of the tape. The sound track is displaced from the corresponding pictorial data by a predetermined interval to allow for synchronization, at least once, of the sound track and the data during play back. The tapes so arranged are employed in either open reel or cassette recording systems. In the case of open reel recording an optical system is provided to facilitate display of the data. In the case of cassettes the pictorial data may be displayed at either front or rear sides of the cassette. Various recorders for using the cassettes are disclosed such that sound reproduction and pictorial display can be accomplished. <IMAGE>
