Abstract

Foam-formation in liquid media is suppressed by adding thereto 0.00005 to 1% by weight of the compound <IMAGE> in which Rf represents CF3 or (CF3)2.CF, R1 represents lower alkyl, R2 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, x represents an integer from 5 to 15, z represents 0 or an integer from 1 to 4 and y represents 0 if z is 1 to 4 and 1 if z is 0. A foam suppressing composition comprises 0.5 to 25% by weight of the above compound in an organic solvent homogeneously miscible with water in a proportion of at least 0.01 % by weight.
