Abstract

A self-irrigating cloche for use in plant propagation comprises a generally tunnel-shaped member 1 made of transparent or translucent material. The member 1 has an upwardly-directed portion 2 which is arranged to receive an irrigation medium thereon, and side walls 3 which adjoin the portion 2 and whose lower edges 3a are disposed inside the maximum lateral extent of the member 1. The side walls 3 are arranged to conduct the irrigation medium from the portion 2 to their lower edges 3a, the irrigation medium being held on the external surface of the walls 3 by virtue of its surface tension. One or more U- shaped supports 4 are provided for insertion into a plant supporting matrix 5 on which the cloche rests. The support(s) 4 both support the member 1 and hold it in a desired shape. <IMAGE>
