Abstract

A rotary atomiser suitable for spraying crops with liquid comprises a hollow truncated cone 1, 2 having a toothed periphery 4 and internal radial grooves 3, one side of each tooth being radial and the other at an angle, preferably 30-60 DEG , to the radius. The grooves 3 lead to the gaps between teeth and may be similarly asymmetrical. The atomiser is unidirectional being rotated so that the radial teeth edges are the leading edges. It may be used singly, or as a stack of cones, and may be driven by an electric motor or by a liquid jet driven turbine integral with the atomiser. <IMAGE>
