Abstract
Blowfly strike on sheep is treated by applying a composition comprising a compound of general formula I: <IMAGE> wherein R<2> is halogen, nitro, cyano, C1 to C6 alkoxy or C1 to C6 alkyl optionally substituted by halogen; R<6> is hydrogen, halogen, nitro, cyano or C1 to C6 haloalkyl; R<3>, R<4> and R<5> are hydrogen, halogen, C1 to C6 alkyl, C1 to C6 alkoxy, nitro, cyano, hydroxy, optionally substituted aryl, C1 to C6 haloalkyl, C1 to C6-(alkyl)carbonyl, C1 to C6-(alkoxy)carbonyl, carboxy, sulfo, C1 to C6-(alkoxy)sulfonyl, amino, mono- or di- C1 to C6-(alkyl) substituted amino, or the groups S(+)R<11>R<12>X(-) or N(+)R<11>R<12>R<13>X(-) wherein R<11>, R<12> and R<13> are C1 to C6 alkyl and X(-) is an anion; R<7> and R<8> are hydrogen or C1 to C6 alkyl; R<9> and R<10> are C1 to C6 alkyl or R<9> and R<10> together form a C2 to C6 alkylene or C2 to C6 dialkylene ether bridging group; at least one of R<4> and R<6> is not hydrogen; or an optical isomer thereof; or a salt thereof; and an inert carrier therefor. Certain of the compounds may be prepared by reacting an aniline derivative with an O,O-dialkyl phosphorodithioate salt.
