Abstract

A method of isolation of a physiologically active peptide in which urine from a human or animal subject exhibiting a particular abnormal physiological condition with which said active peptide is associated is treated with a precipitating agent for proteins at a pH in the range 3.5 to 5.0 and the precipitate so formed, after separation from the urine, is dissolved in an aqueous medium and subjected to gel chromatography, fractions containing the desired peptide then being treated to liberate the peptide and subjected to further fractionation to yield fractions containing the liberated peptide.
