Abstract
A refractory composition useful as a furnace lining has been prepared which comprises from 55% to 97% fused or tubular alumina grain, 4% to 18% fused or tubular alumina fines, 0% to 10% calcined alumina and 3% to 17% chromic oxide. This refractory material when dry rammed or vibrated to form a furnace lining is self bonding during the initial heat up.
