Abstract

A deformable tubular member (1) for the steering assembly of a motor vehicle comprises a plurality of longitudinally arranged zones (A & B) each having openings (4, 5,) therein. The openings of the zone (A) are of different dimensions to the openings of the zone (B) so that deformations of the respective zones occurs at different deformation forces. <IMAGE>
