Abstract
The invention relates to a flow meter of a fluidic oscillator type which has its principal use when measuring the ventilation of a moving human being or animal. The flow meter has an inlet, two outlet ducts and two control inlets connected by a circular control duct, one on each side of the connection between the inlet and outlet ducts. All the ducts are co-planar and the inlet is wedge shaped. The oscillations caused by the flow through the meter are detected by an ultrasonic transmitter and receiver placed at the endpoints of the control duct. The design of the flow meter enables it to be made small, light and portable and also ensures that the pressure drop in it is minimal. <IMAGE>
