Abstract
An open-bottomed receptacle is placed on the road surface concerned, into it is put a tracer, e.g. a zinc nitrate solution or plain water, the tracer and residual deicer is uniformly mixed, and the tracer concentration and deicer concentration in the resulting mixture is determined. The value calculated therefrom for the residual deicer concentration makes it possible to restrict a subsequent application of additional deicer to the proportion required to compensate for the removed deicer.
