Abstract

A method for electrostatically charging particles intended for deposition upon a substrate, involves the step of subjecting the particles to an electric discharge before incidence upon the substrate. Oxidised or anodised Al particles are fed from hopper 8 via vibratory table 10 through a corona discharge generated by comb electrode 14, on to steel strip 2, which may have a fugitive binder thereon, tile particles being subsequently sintered to the strip. <IMAGE>
