Abstract
There is provided an improved guideway structure for a linear motor vehicle 16 in which the linear motor vehicle runs through an evacuated sealed chamber 20 thereby minimizing drag caused by air against the vehicle and noise created by interaction between air and the vehicle. The sealed chamber 20 is formed by securing a cover 18 on a conventional guideway base structure 10, the cover being shaped to form a space for passage of the vehicle between the base structure and the cover, or encompassing the base structure and the space above the base structure in a tube. <IMAGE>
