Abstract

Apparatus for scrubbing gases comprising a preliminary washing zone 20, 21 where the gas is charged with fine droplets to accelerate it and render it turbulent, a washing zone 40 where the gas flows upwards in cyclonic fashion and meets a downward liquid spray, a devesiculation zone 5 where a liquid film forms on the walls and is prevented from being entrained in gas by a suitably positioned ring. <IMAGE>
