Abstract

In an array of continuously operable washing machines, each washing machine includes a rotatable wash drum, the wash drums having scooped plates. The design is such that in one of a pair of adjacent washing machines laundry is retained, while its wash drum is being rotated in a certain direction, and the laundry is delivered out when this wash drum is rotated in the opposite direction, and that while the wash drum of the other adjacent washing machine is rotated in said certain direction its batch of laundry is delivered out, whereas while the wash drum of this washing machine is rotated in the opposite direction, the batch of laundry is retained therein. Rotation in said certain direction of the wash drum of one washing machine is effected simultaneously with the rotation in the opposite direction of wash drum of its neighbouring washing machine. <IMAGE>
