Ticket punches. - An apparatus for use in theatre box-offices and like places for punching or stamping admission tickets and registering the number of tickets punched on separate counters for the several prices or classes of tickets is provided with means for locking the punch against operation until one of the registers has been selected for actuation, means whereby the act of selecting a register for actuation releases any registers previously set, and means for adjusting the width of the ticket-slot in accordance with the register selected for actuation, the tickets having widths varying according to the price or class. The registers may be arranged in a tier within a casing 12, Fig. 1, having a locked side door 17 giving authorized access to the registers for resetting. The registers are viewed through openings 11 and are set for actuation by means of projecting levers 30 connected to pivoted plates 29, Fig. 3. The punch 1, Fig. 8, is normally held in a raised position by a spring 3, and is lowered for operation by means of a cam-lever 6 on a shaft mounted in the frame 2 of the punch. An arm 26 on the shaft 7 is connected through link and ]ever members 25, 23, 22 to a rod 20, which is thereby moved with the punch and serves to actuate the set counter. The rod 20 carries a number of pivoted hooks 27 each of which is adapted to be engaged with a pin 28 on the corresponding actuating-arm 19 of a counter by the action of a pin 31 on the pivoted plate 29. A series of wedge-shaped catches 43 pivoted to the frame and interconnected by a link 45 are adapted to engage pins 42, Fig. 3, on the plates to hold any set plate in the raised position, such plate being released when any other plate is set. The locking means for the punch lever comprises a stop 32, Fig. 5, adapted to be rocked out of a notch in the lever by the action of any one of a set of arms 38, Fig. 3, pivoted to the frame and interconnected by a link 39, the arms lying in the paths of pins 41 on the pivoted plates 29 of the counters. The width of the ticketslot 48 is varied by the positioning of a pivoted stepped plate 47. Fig. 8, connected by a link 50 with an arm 51, Fig. 3. This arm is connected to an upper pivoted arm 53 by a link 52 having projections 54, 55, 56 in the paths of pins 57 on the pivoted plates of the counters below that for the highest-priced ticket, the distance between each projection and its associated pin corresponding with the width of the slot to be provided. The selection of any register thus moves the link 52 to place the corresponding stepped part of the plate 47 at the side of the ticket opening. According to the Provisional Specification, means may be provided whereby simultaneous depression of several register levers results in only one register being effective, and the ticket-slot may be closed by the stepped plate when no register lever is depressed.
