Abstract

199,463. Soc. Anon. des Anciens Etablissements Hotchkiss et Cie, and Taylor, H. E. March 22, 1922. Gear-cutting.-Gear teeth of the type which intersect the body of the blank along involute ,paths while the normal pitch and normal cross section of the teeth are constant throughout their length, are generated by means of a tool moving along an involute path obtained by combining an oscillating movement about a fixed axis with a radial movement to and from such axis. The tool is carried in a holde.r on a slide C movable along an arm carried by a shaft A<2> which is oscillated through link mechanism (not shown) from second arm A<4>. During the oscillation, a roller C<3> on the side C engages a fixed cam slot E<2> to move the slide on its supporting arm and traverse the tool in the required path.
