Abstract
Thin films of acetyl cellulose or other cellulose esters, used as substitutes for cigarette-paper, are rendered opaque by evaporating solutions of the esters, also containing 1-2 per cent of nitro-cellulose, upon a rough surface such as frosted glass plate, the plate being first rubbed with a finely powdered pigment such as chalk. Transparent longitudinal edges and suitable designs may be produced upon the films by allowing the corresponding portions of the plates to remain smooth. Specification 4959/10 is referred to.
