Abstract

196,076. Bourgeois, C. Jan. 13, 1922. Addition to 174,335. Stop-motions. warp.-Warp threads a, Fig. 3, separated by lease-rods b straddle spring elements 13 of a detector frame of the kind described in the parent Specification, and pass under a beam 25 to the heddles 24. On the breakage of any thread a, the corresponding spring resumes its normal position 13<1>, thereby completing an electric circuit through the frame members 11, between which the ends of the spring are located,. and a bar 16 insulated from the frame. The armature 44, Fig. 6, of an electromagnet is thereupon attracted to the position 44', where it prevents the normal swinging of a lever 40 pivoted at 39, when the said lever is struck at each beat of the lay by a striker 46 secured to the lay. A spring-controlled plunger 37, which carries the pivot 39, is therefore forced to the left and pushes the " knock-off " lever 35 out of its usual retaining notch and consequently stops the looms. The electric-circuit comprises a contact-stud 53, Fig. 7, and a sector 48 pivoted at 49. Immediately the lever 35 is released and moves to the " stop " position 35<1> it contacts with a finger 50 on the sector 48 and moves the sector out of contact with the stud 53, thereby breaking the circuit, whereupon the armature drops to its normal position. On replacing the lever 35 the sector is retained raised bv the friction of a spring 52 resting thereon. After a few beats of the loom the vibration shakes the sector into contact with the stud 53 again. The frame members 11 are spaced apart and maintained parallel by sliders 18, and the whole clamped by means of straps 19 and lugs 20 to a framing 2. This framing carries a shaft 7 which is pivotally supported in brackets adjustably secured to the side of the loom. This framing is located above the normal horizontal level of the web of warp so that the threads are deflected from their normal path.
