Depositing-machines.-A machine for use in clearing the starch or moulding powder from confections of soft or yielding material of the type set out in Specifications 20789/94 and 20415/96, [both in Class 28, Cooking &c.], has a false bottom provided to contain a heating-coil a<1> so that the starch removed from the confection is maintained dry. This dry starch is raised by a conveyer b<1>, which is also jacketed for heating, and is delivered on to a conveyer B<2> which carries the moulding- pans for filling. Heated air is blown on the confections by a blower G, and the confections are brushed by rotating or reciprocating brushes e at the discharge end; these brushes may have compressed air discharged 'through their bristles to increase their cleaning qualities. The confections are fed to a hopper A where they drop through interceptors d to a reciprocating screen B, and thence by a succession of screens to a lower screen provided with brushes. The screens are provided with removable portions which can be easily removed for cleaning or repair. The whole machine may be hot-jacketed if desired.
