Abstract

194,601. Vero, O. C. May 27, 1922. Softening.-After felt hats are blocked the stiffening is broken down by beaters in a revolving drum. A suitable apparatus comprises a casing 1 rotated by a pulley 5, and beaters 14 on a shaft 2 rotated, preferably in the opposite direction, by a pulley 18. The beaters may comprise cane rods passed through offset openings in a tube 15 fixed to the shaft 2, the canes being kept in position by rubber tubes 17. Rods 9 may be secured to the casing.
