Abstract
193,582. Morrison, J. W., and Cross, W. A. Dec. 19, 1921. Corrosion, preventing.-Devices for preventing corrosion in boilers &c. comprising a plate B of zinc or other electropositive metal in metallic contact with the boiler shell, are fitted with spring contact plates D in metallic connection with the zinc plates and the stud C by which they are attached to the shell A, the arrangement being such that the contacting parts E of the spring plates follow up the exposed surface of the zinc plates as the latter dissolves. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 4, the ends of the spring plate D are turned inwardly so as to bear upon the zinc plate B at right-angles. In other modifications, the spring plate is made starshaped with radially projecting contact arms or is provided with a central screwed boss for engaging the stud C.
