Abstract
15,988. Burgess, F. Nov. 12. Pigments.-A wall and floor surfacing composition consists of ground hard nut shell and varnish, adhesive paint, or other binder, the proportions of nut shell and binder being preferably equal. The outer and inner shell or hull are both used, pecan, peanut, hazel, brazil, walnut, and almond being examples. The surface to be covered may be first varnished, and the ground shell sifted or blown on, and a second coat of varnish then applied. For a greater thickness, the above-described process is followed by applying finer shell powder and a final coat of varnish. Several layers of shell powder and varnish may be applied as desired, and a coarse or dull surface may be produced by finishing with coarser or finer grades of the powder. Metal or other hard surfaces are first coated with a mixture of sawdust and varnish. The composition of ground nut shell and binder may be made up in paste form and be applied to a burlap or other surface, and wall-paper may be coated with the paste and be stocked in rolls ready for use. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 2537/92, 17,908/98, 28,547/09, and 17,413/14, [all in Class 70, Indiarubber &c.].
