13,283. Dufty, N. E. Sept. 17. Dynamos, regulating; motors, controlling.--The voltage or current of a variable-speed dynamoelectric generator is maintained constant by means of a wheatstone bridge the resistances of which have positive and negative temperature-coefficients, the resistances B, D having positive coefficients such as iron, and the resistances A, C having negative coefficients such as carbon. The bridge may be connected across the generator brushes as shown or in series therewith, and regulates the machine by controlling the excitation of an auxiliary field wioding W. Voltage and current regulations may be provided on the same machine. The invention is also applied to electric motors for maintaining the speed constant by controlling the field excitation.
