[Published under Section 91 of the Act.] Roller floats, ships supported on ; floats for aerial machines; hydroplane vessels.-Comprises floats for hydro-aeroplanes, water cycles, and combined land, water, and aerial machines, which can be expanded by gas inflation or mechanically, and collapsed. Figs. 2, 5, and 7 show inflatable wheel and roller forms. The wheel shown in Fig. 2 consists of an air chamber d of flexible material secured to disks f which move along the central shaft during inflation and deflation ; a wire frame wheel of curved radial rods a and concentric wires b surrounds the air chamber d. Other wheel forms are shown, and in the arrangement shown in Fig. 5, the air chamber is formed of rigid sector plates h connected at the edges and top and bottom by flexible material ; a pneumatic tyre k also is provided. Fig. 7 shows a roller form consisting of ends l connected by cylinders of flexible material m, n. A collapsible float hinged at o is shown in Fig. 9, the inclination being regulated by small cables i controlled by the aviator. The floats are inflated generally by pumps or from reservoirs, suitable valves being provided.
